Gisborne Secondary College Environmental Awareness The amount of litter in our school yard is, foul, disgusting, filthy and of course many other things. Whenever you walk around our school yard there is rubbish wherever you look. Most people just don’t seem to see (or care) about the rubbish around them. It is saddening to know what happens to this rubbish. The wind blows and picks up the weightless rubbish and carries it into creeks and dams. Then animals, caught by surprise may swallow the rubbish and choke or suffocate. This is just so wrong! Why should harmless animals die because of human’s carelessness and laziness? It is just not fair! At Gisborne Secondary College we need to be more careful, and dispose of rubbish the correct way. If we see other students litter, we should tell them to pick it up, or report it to a teacher if they do not cooperate. We should also think twice before we simply drop some rubbish on the ground. Is it really worth it? If we unite together, we can STOP littering and keep our school and towns clean. If we stop now the Earth will have a brighter future and so will the nature and wildlife around us. It is not hard. So let’s make a difference and STOP littering!
